This special iteration of the IGF Conversation looked at the impact of the Invictus movement over the last 10 years since the inaugural Invictus Games London 2014 and how a global community has been created and empowered to allow greater recovery pathways for the wounded, injured or sick service community.
The event was moderated by Louise Minchin, a well-known BBC Presenter and Broadcaster and featured participants from Invictus past, present, and future.
Panel 3 - The Next 10 Years of the Invictus Movement
The final panel focused on looking to the future and discussed how sport is the catalyst for recovery within many of our Invictus nations. We got a different perspective from the newer corners of the Invictus Community of Nations with Dean of Nigeria and Victor of Colombia and learnt how the Invictus Games Foundation has significantly changed their lives.
We also received insights from the Rt Hon Johnny Mercer MP, UK Minister of Veterans’ Affairs and Heidi Grant, Vice President, Defence Global Growth & Engagement, Boeing Defence, Space & Security and learnt of their commitment to helping the international WIS community.
Annika Kanzenbach gave us the perspective of a spouse and how a recovery journey for an injured service member is never solo and how it affects the whole family.
With thanks to American Airlines, the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, BetterUp, Boeing, Booz Allen Hamilton, Fisher House Foundation, ISPS Handa and Monster for their support of the Invictus Games Foundation.
