The Invictus Games Foundation welcomes three new members to the Board of Trustees: former CEO of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020, Conny Wenting; Olympian and former sports presenter, Jonathan Edwards; and TV presenter and former Invictus Games competitor, JJ Chalmers.
Jonathan and JJ both bring to the Board their sports experience and broadcasting knowledge, with JJ also joining to represent the wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veteran community.
Olympian and world record holder in Triple Jump, Jonathan Edwards had a post-sports career in the media, and was part of the BBC team presenting the inaugural Invictus Games in London 2014, where JJ was competing in Athletics and Cycling taking home a gold and two bronze medals. Following the Invictus Games London 2014, JJ then also got into the world of presenting sports, covering subsequent Invictus Games in Orlando, Toronto, Sydney and The Hague for the BBC and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Conny Wenting from the Netherlands joins the Invictus Games Foundation board to add an international perspective and to champion the role of family and friends after delivering a successful Invictus Games The Hague 2020 amidst an extremely challenging few years of delays due to the pandemic.
With two long-standing board members Debbie Jevans and Dr Dave Henson MBE stepping down later this year after serving three consecutive three-year terms, we thank them for their incredible voluntary support to the charity and their commitment to the continued impact of sport recovery on the international community.
“We are delighted to be joined by three new members for the Invictus Games Foundation board and for the wealth of experience they bring between them from the world of sports and sports recovery. As we prepare for our ten year anniversary next year, we are excited to prepare for the next ten years of supporting our international community. I would like to thank Debbie and Dave for their service over the years, and for their continued support for Invictus.”

JJ Chalmers added, "I know personally the transformational power of The Invictus Games. It was the moment of catalyst in my recovery that not only benefited me physically and mentally but also helped me transition out of the Armed Forces and into my new profession. My work as a Broadcaster has further shown me the immense impact that the games and The Invictus community can have on the wider world; particularly in education, disability rights and encouraging service to a community. It is an honour to take up a Trustee role and to bring my experience to help ensure the Invictus Games continue to evolve to meet the needs of the wounded, injured and sick service personnel throughout the world."
“Having been involved in the first Invictus Games in London in 2014, it’s been a delight to see how the Invictus movement has gone from strength to strength. The invitation to now become a Trustee is a great privilege, and I look forward to playing my part in the future of the incredible community that exists around the Games. “
