Congratulations to everyone who took part in recent Tour d’Invictus virtual cycling challenge.

The Tour d’Invictus is held every year to coincide with the Tour de France and encourages members of the wounded, injured or sick (WIS) service community to be more active and use cycling as a part of their recovery.

This year’s challenge took place between June 30 and July 21 and saw participants from 13 nations.

The Tour d’Invictus is a unique offering in the Invictus Games Foundation’s Beyond the Games programme, as it is the only virtual event that we run that is open to the public.

We were delighted to be joined by supporters and the friends and family of the wounded, injured or sick service community on this year’s Tour d’Invictus and we hope everyone who joined has made positive steps on their recovery journeys.

“We wanted to say ‘Chapeau’ to everyone who participated in this year's Tour d’Invictus virtual cycling challenge. This challenge is not about being the best, it’s about connecting with others, feeling supported and pushing yourself a little bit further in your recovery,” said Josh Boggi, Invictus Community Liaison Manager at the Invictus Games Foundation.

Chapeau is a French term that translates to 'hat'; to bestow a 'chapeau' upon another individual is to verbally express the tipping of your cap.

“We at the Invictus Games Foundation say 'chapeau' as we congratulate all who participated in the Tour d'Invictus virtual cycling challenge over the last three weeks.

“This activity has absolutely helped me to believe in being healthy and enjoying cycling. Being able to track my progress was so fun,” said Erika, a member of the We Are Invictus community from Canada.

“I felt so good in the evenings after logging my route.’ ‘What is most important is that this activity improved my life, and I will be able to pay that forward to others,” she said.

We were delighted to welcome participants from Australia, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Nigeria, United Kingdom, Ukraine and the United States.

“As a triple amputee who had to undergo extensive rehabilitation, I can truly attest to the power of cycling for recovery and I’m delighted we were joined by so many participants from around the world, we hope to see even more next year,” said Josh.
