Invictus Games 2014 Competitors Line Up for Sport Relief Mile

London, 20 March – The Invictus Games’ involvement with Sport Relief continued today with competitors from the 2014 Games taking part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Luke Darlington, Derek Derenalagi, Ray Lowrie, Mickaela Richards, Ben Wagon and Sam Stocks all lined up earlier this afternoon for a special Invictus mile, one of the three live waves today in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Also on the start line was Mike Goody, fresh from taking part in Sport Relief: Clash of the Titans as part of Freddie Flintoff’s team. On the night he raced against fellow 2014 Invictus Games competitor Paul Vice in the running leg of the team triathlon event.

Today’s Invictus mile was started by Dave Henson who captained the UK Armed Forces team at the 2014 Invictus Games in London.

The next Invictus Games are taking place in under 50 days in Orlando, Florida at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex from 8-12 May 2016. Tickets are on sale at www.invictusgames2016.org/tickets.

Prince Harry recently announced that there will be a third Invictus Games which will take place in Toronto, Canada in September 2017.

The Sport Relief Weekend took place from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th March and saw the return of the Sport Relief Games. This year, the public could walk, run, swim or cycle their way to raising life-changing cash.
